The Dafnis Family are producers of the world’s first olive oil with enhanced properties for health protection. The Governor’s Olive Mill is located near Agios Mathios, on Mount Gamillios.

The olive tour begins with guided walk through the ancient olive groves, a protected Natura 200 Region. Some of the lianolia olive trees are over 500 years old and none are less than 100 years old!  The Olive Expert will explain the truths and myths that surround this exceptional fruit and the history of the Dafnis Family who have tended the olives in this area of Corfu for three generations. The olives from the 1500 trees are ‘hand harvested’, a process which does not shock or damage the tree. The nets are raised so that they do not bruise when they fall from the tree.

Back at the mill you will learn how the olive oil is produced and you will learn how to taste extra virgin olive oil and recognize high quality oil just as a professional would. It is a unique skill that is sure to impress!  You will also enjoy the oil paired with local delicacies including feta, hand made crackers and local wine.  You will also learn about the amazing health benefits of this cold pressed olive oil which made history as Corfu’s only premium olive oil.  At the end of the tour you will receive a certificate of participation.
