Right next to the Roman Baths in Corfu Town, you will find the main entrance to Mon Repos Palace, set in a large park. The palace, built by Sir Frederick Adam between 1828 and 1832, served as a summer residence for British High Commissioners, became the property of the Greek royal family in 1864, and has belonged to the Greek state since 1994. For the British, a visit to the villa is a must, as their queen's husband, Prince Philip, was born on June 10, 1921, as the son of the Greek Prince Andreas and Princess Alice von Battenberg.
The palace houses the Archaeological Museum of Paliópolis.
